StopBy Terms of Use
StopBy (ちかメモ in Japanese) is a to-do app that reminds you of things to do when you arrive at a place, and lets a household share those lists. It is developed and operated by its individual developer, listed on the app's store page ("we"). By installing or using StopBy, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

The service
StopBy lets you save places, attach to-dos to them, and receive a reminder when your device detects that you have arrived. Signing in adds sync across your devices and sharing with the people in your household. The free plan includes a limited number of places and open to-dos; StopBy Pro removes those limits and enables sharing, as described in the app.
We may change, add, or remove features without prior notice. For ending the service, see "Ending the service".
Accounts
- You can use StopBy without an account. Signing in with Apple or Google creates an account for you.
- Keep your device and your sign-in secure. Activity through your account is treated as yours.
- Use one account per person. StopBy is not directed to children under 13, and you may not use it if you are under 13.
- You can delete your account at any time from Settings in the app. Deleting it removes your account and your data from our servers as described in the Privacy Policy, and if you own a household, the household and everything in it.
StopBy Pro subscriptions
- StopBy Pro is an auto-renewing subscription sold through the App Store or Google Play. The store processes the payment under its own terms, and the price, billing period, and any free trial are shown in the app before you subscribe.
- The subscription renews automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. You can cancel at any time in your Apple ID or Google Play subscription settings; canceling stops future renewals and Pro stays active until the end of the period you paid for.
- A free trial, where offered, converts to a paid subscription unless canceled before it ends. Each person is eligible for one free trial.
- Refunds are handled by the store under its policies. We cannot issue refunds for purchases made through the App Store or Google Play.
- Pro covers your whole household: while the owner of a household has an active subscription, its members use Pro without subscribing themselves.
- When Pro ends, nothing is deleted. Everything you created stays, and the free plan's limits apply only to adding more.
If you downloaded StopBy from the App Store, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to your license of the app.
Your content
The places, to-dos, categories, and names you enter are yours. By using sync and sharing, you allow us to store that content on our servers and to make it available to the members of your household, which is what those features do. Everyone in a household can see and edit everything in it, including who checked off each to-do. Do not enter content you do not have the right to share, and do not use StopBy for anything unlawful.
Acceptable use
You may not:
- interfere with the service, its servers, or other people's use of it;
- probe, overload, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other accounts;
- circumvent the free plan's limits or the purchase flow, or resell access to the service;
- use the app in a way that violates the law or the rights of others.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules.
Location, reminders, and reliance
Arrival reminders depend on your device, its operating system, and the permissions you grant. Location detection is approximate, and reminders can be late, early, or missed, for example when location services are restricted, when the device is saving power, or when there is no signal. StopBy is a convenience, not a safety or medical tool; do not rely on it for anything where a missed reminder could cause harm.
Ending the service
StopBy is developed and operated by an individual. We may end all or part of the service at any time and for any reason, including our own circumstances. When we do, we will try to announce it in the app or on this website, but we are not obliged to.
- Before the service ends, we stop selling new StopBy Pro subscriptions and stop renewals. If a period you paid for is still running when the service ends, we will point you to the store's refund process.
- After the service ends, features that rely on our servers, such as sync, sharing, and sign-in, stop working. Accounts and data on our servers are deleted and cannot be recovered.
- Data stored on your device stays there until you delete the app, but we do not promise that the app will keep working.
- Our liability for any loss caused by ending the service is limited as described in "Disclaimer and limitation of liability".
Disclaimer and limitation of liability
StopBy is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no warranties about its availability, accuracy, or fitness for a particular purpose, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for loss of data that you have not kept elsewhere. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability for all claims arising from the service is limited to the amount you paid us for StopBy Pro in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights that consumer protection law gives you and that cannot be waived.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms at any time. The changed terms are posted here with their effective date and take effect on that date. We may not announce changes in the app or individually. If you keep using StopBy on or after the effective date, you accept the changed terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Japan. Disputes that cannot be settled between us are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Tokyo District Court as the court of first instance, unless the consumer protection law of your country of residence requires otherwise.
